The oddest odd couple you'll get,
A homophobic crim & a gay doctor (vet),
You'll laugh a load,
When they hit the road,
And you'll cry in the sad bits (I bet).
The oddest odd couple you'll get,

Emile Hirsch wants his mum’s death to quicken,
McConaughey, a hired gun who would sicken,
All us decent type folk,
Who know killin’ Mum ain’t no joke,
A great flick, but you’ll give up fried chicken.
Be brave, don't run & hide,
Take a trip to the absurd side,
Jump into this portal,
You'll forget that you're mortal,
If you submit to the crazy ride!
Traci Lords, Marlee Matlin, Mal McDowell,
Joined John Waters in a tale most foul,
But McCord mesmerised,
Her bloodlust shocked our eyes,
A place awaits Ricky Bates in Hell's bowel!
Jeff is so sweet & naive,
Lives in Mom's basement: won't leave,
He sees all of these links,
'It's kismet' he thinks,
"Everything must interweave'.
What a delightful little flick,
A cut above the old 'guy meets chick',
It's clever & sweet,
With heart & brains, it's a treat,
And the great cast give it a kick.
This film has almost zero plot,
Though the nature was stunningly shot,
'Make a doco. And drop that script',
I wanted to yell, feeling gypped,
And add 'What the *uck? What'!
A fun choice for the SFF closer,
Three mag workers (one is a poser),
And a time machine maker,
Is he real or a faker?
And if so, who will be his exposer?
The celluloid versus digital debate,
Doesn't look like it'll soon abate,
Keanu interviews the key players,
Digital's champions and its naysayers,
What a fascinating doco: so great!
Fantastic Loach drama, full of grit,
Made me cry, and then there's the wit,
Yes: there's comedy too,
About a real motley crew,
This film deserves to be a hit!
Gabriel's a cop (a little bit rogue),
And lovely Rampling (always in vogue),
My fave pick it's not,
Though it's beautifully shot,
And there's Byrne's divine lilting brogue.
A real slow-paced drama from Brazil,
With over 2 hours to fill,
It's in SFF Competition,
The highlight: watching a mission,
To get a yapping dog to chill.
A film from the freaky Greeky 'Weird Wave',
Oh, in such kooky ways they behave!
The dry humour is stark,
But it didn't hit the mark,
Or give as much as its cousin L gave.
Aussie comedy that opened the Fest,
There were some laughs, some jest,
But from what I saw,
I really wanted more,
As a film: not Australia's best.
Pre-fall of the Berlin Wall,
Doc Barbara has the gall,
To be on a quest,
To move to the west,
(It's moves slowly, but does enthrall).
Visually arty, told in two parts,
With some fab songs from the 60s charts,
There's a love forbidden,
That had to be hidden,
It's the story of two broken hearts.
Isaac needs all of his armour,
In this terrific Aussie/Euro drama,
His dad's history,
Is shrouded in mystery,
Can he escape the family karma?
Wow, those moors are a stunning look,
In this new film of the classic book,
Not exactly Larry & Merle,
But in its own way a pearl,
It's strong, and really can hook.
A subtitled rom-com from France,
About the love gained / love lost dance,
It's not meant to be deep,
Go on: take a peep,
And give this cute flick a chance!
